If it is not a fax machine, it cannot send/receive faxes.
Plug it into a phone line, tell the fax sender to call you and let the fax machine answer..
like the other peoson said, if this printer is not also a fax machine you can't do this

VERY misleading marketing for this item. It is NOT immediately clear that the fax function is done through software and not the hardware itself. This means that you NEED a fax modem in your pc and most new machines no longer come with them fitted. You can therefore expect to fork out an additional $20 to $30 plus fitting if you don't know how to do that yourself. This also means that you have to leave your pc on when you want to receive faxes. Overall print quality is good but if you are looking for a decent fax/printer this is not a product that I would recommend.
You cannot, it is not a fax machine.
You need to have a fax modem hooked up, installed and working on your computer, couple this with the software needed to interpret the the fax data.
Lexmark making the claim that they have the ability to receive faxes on their printers is very misleading given the fact that you actually need specific hardware on your computer. With this hardware, pretty much any printer or scanner can be used as a fax machine.
But the simple answer is, you don't have a fax machine.
