does anyone know any good movies about f1 racing. i remember there was one good one with modern day f1 cars but i forgot the name
As a few have said, Grand Prix is the nearest thing to a watchable F1 movie, the late Phil Hill did the driving for it.
The 1982 F1 season was like a movie, 11 different race winners, 2 team mates at each others throats and a season ending race in which 2 drivers still had a chance of the title.
If you've never seen Driven you're lucky, keep it that way
Nothing in the modern era
But have a look at Grand Prix 1966 Directed by John Frankenheimer
American Grand Prix driver Pete Aron James Garner is fired by his Jordan-BRM racing team after a crash at Monaco that injures his British teammate & ends up racing for a new Japanese Venture [Look Suprisingly like Honda]
A lot of actual race footage was used hence the actors wore helmets that were replicas of actual drivers.
Monza & the banked section was used
Look also at Le Mans [Steve McQueen]
& Winning [Paul Newman Robert Wagner]
I know they are not formula 1 but motor sport is motor sport
As for Driven Stallone did follow the GP circus around getting inspiration for a year & whether someone from F1 read the script, or Sly wouldn't pay royalties [F1 & all its forms are ed]
Hope this helps
Regards Greg
The only movie I've seen in recent times that has any reference to Formula 1 is "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby". The "Villain" is a driver who came over from F1 and thats all.
The next closest thing is "Driven", but as many had suggested, its best kept unseen.
The best ever was 'Grand Prix' based in the '60's.
.
Leroy and Gromit have named the only part decent one I know of, all the rest are US based and unfortunately cr*p.
.
I know of Nascar (lots of them including Days of Thunder by Tom Cruise) and IndyCar (Driven starring Stallone) movies. Have not heard of any F1 movies and suspect you were thinking of Driven.
The only one that I can think of off the top of my head is "Driven".
There are really only a few.
Grand Prix from 1967.
Bobby Deerfield which was more about the guy, with a few race scene tossed in. Mid 70's.
And then you had some stuff from the 50's that I can't think of off the top of my head.
